A hard side portable hot tub could come in a solid shell or in pieces that we have to put together. Some of the models have special add ons that may include heating element and controls. Unlike the first two types of portable hot tub, a fibreglass portable hot tub is more like the permanent models. They are usually a bit larger than a conventional bath tub, and can be used on floors with regular support.

Some of the benefits of portable hot tub are as follows:

  • Easy to install and disassemble
  • No costly pumbling and wiring as is the case with permanent ones
  • Easy usage in terms of filling the water in and plugged in
  • Flexible since it can be put inside or outside
  • Suits those with limited space as it can be moved
  • Less expensive than the permanent ones

Normally, the life time of portable hot tub is generally not last as long as the permanent one, although some of the portable hot tub can be used for years with proper maintenance. Portable hot tub is suitable for those looking for low cost, low maintenance, and easy to move around home spa.

Most of them are usually made of fibreglassor acrylic, with acrylic hot tub spas are, by far, the better of the two types and usually have longer life-time and services. “Hot tubs” usually refer to water-filled tubs made of wood, sometimes with a liner set inside. Water action inside the tub could be something like circular motion known as “whirlpool” action. Sometimes, the word “hot tub spas” are mistakenly confused with “Jacuzzi”. The latter is not a generic name for spas but the name of the company that makes whirlpool baths and spas.

Hot tub spas come in various shapes and sizes. Usually they have contoured seating, whilst other are made longer on some sections to let the people fully recline inside the tub. Some latest models of hot tub spas come with an electronic digital readout touch sensitive control pad mounted on the inside of the tub to give easier access to all the functions of the tub. These jets can also be adjusted to control the direction of the water flow through them. Another option is to install an ozonator to the hot tub spas which automatically inject sanitizer into the water in the form of ozone gas, making the hot tub spas maintenance a lot easier.
